Before picking a designer or web developer, one should be sure of where the focus is on the website. What will the company's website need to do? Will you require high listings in the search engines? Is the site simply an online brochure that you will direct existing clients to or will it need to be more of a marketing tool to strum up new business?

Once you have asked yourself these questions, you then need to take a look into what the company is offering? What softwares has the company written? Is the intention to sell you an off the shelf product or is it to custom develop something for you?
